Walter notices none of this; he is where he usually is on a Saturday, at home in his office with the windows and doors closed and locked. This afternoon he is working, finishing the design for his most recent digital systems integration contract. This solitary occupation is steady enough to keep Walter in a modest house and supplied with groceries and other necessities which he has delivered to his door. Walter is what you might call a "shut in", someone who does not like to go out in public and prefers to do what little socializing he does on the Internet, often under an assumed name.

As he ponders what level of error handling to use in his project there is a knock at his front door. He opens an IP Cam viewer window on his PC desktop and selects the front porch camera to see who it is.
